At the age of 39, Michael Jerome Browne has already established himself as a veritable high priest of American traditional music and blues. Born in South Bend, Indiana, Browne picked up his first instruments – harmonica and guitar – at the age of nine. He is considered an expert banjo, fiddle and mandolin player and is heralded as a virtuoso in a myriad of American folk music styles – old time country, cajun, western swing, early jazz, R&B and electric blues. Michael’s new album “Drive On” on Borealis Records proves beyond doubt that this man is a master folk musician.
